custom screen print designs
The process of screen printing artwork relays back to a few key elements
1. Client Consultation & Concept Development
Discuss the client’s vision, purpose, and desired outcome.
Gather information such as: number of colors, shirt type, print size, placement and technique
2. Artwork Creation
Use professional software to design clean, scalable vector graphics.
Ensure artwork follows screen printing specifications:
Use spot colors
Avoid gradients unless simulating halftones
Convert text to outlines
Use CMYK or Pantone color codes
3. Mockup Presentation
Create digital mockups of the design on shirts to show the client scale and placement
4. Color Separation
Separate each color in the design into individual layers for screen setup.
Prepare halftones if necessary for shading or photo-realistic elements.
Output each color layer as a high-res black-and-white film positive.
5. File Prep & Screen Setup
Format final design for print (usually vector-based AI or PDF).
Label clearly for screen printer (e.g., color names, print dimensions, alignment marks).
Save in high-resolution with bleed and transparency settings for burning screens.
